Give Yourself the Gift of Happiness - Create a Positive Environment

Updated: Jun 20, 2019

One of the best ways to impact your mood and set a positive environment is to use Music. It doesn’t matter if you love metal, pop or country, music can help your mood and help you cope with (or even take control of) tricky emotions.

Music is a powerful tool that can be wielded to impact your emotional state. A good song can keep you motivated and focused on the task at hand. A good playlist can help you take on the world.

Here is a link to a playlist we call the "Morning School Run."

We play it on our morning drive to drop off the kids at school. We do this every day to help ensure they start their day off on the right foot and in a good mood.

When I was a kid I used to wish that I could have a soundtrack play over my life like in the movies when you see actors going about their daily lives. Now with music libraries at our fingertips you literally can.

I remember doing this before I interviewed for my job in Bastrop. I was parked on the street in downtown Austin rocking to a playlist created to raise my energy level. I’m sure I looked funny from the outside, but I went in with a high energy vibe that allowed me to rock the committee interview.

You can create your very own playlist so that when ever you are going into a big meeting or situation you throw it on and let the music move you. It can also help you rebound after a not so pleasant exchange, or let it calm you when the world is crashing all around you. It doesn't even have to be music.

You could play your favorite comedian or favorite podcast like this one hosted by my friends Drew Myers and Shauna Glenn called Defining Audacity Radio Show and Podcast

Another way to create this positive environment is to play defense with your surroundings. What I mean is you can take notice when people you are around are being negative and remove yourself from the situation.

When someone is gossiping and trashing talking others you can take action to ensure you don’t let their negativity rub off on you. If someone is constantly complaining you can remind them how much we have to be grateful for and after a little while you’ll notice they’ll quit coming to you to gossip or to complain.

I have found most people who want to complain are not looking for solutions. Most of the time they are simply wanting to spew their negative energy around so others can wallow in their misery. Eliminating these negative people from your environment will allow you to attract other like minded positive people who enjoy being around your positive energy.

In the end it doesn't matter how you set your positive environment. It only matters that you set your environment with intention and protect it from being invaded by negative energy or people.
